All About Us. Where we came from and 
Where we are going

Hi,

  My name is Art Atkinson.  I spent most of my life  in construction as a carpenter and when it became to hard for me to climb over roofs and the heavy lifting, my wife Shirley and I decided to go into the craft business. So in 1988 we started Designs by Rainbow.  We built mostly wooden toy's, doll furniture and home decor  and taking them to craft shows.

  It was very successful, but after a few years  with the rising cost of craft  shows and the time spent there, we discovered the Internet was the way to go.  I went and got a book on web designing and started studying.

  We put our first  wed site "Atkinson's Woodproducts" on in 1994 and it looked pretty good but as I look back it wasn't very good.  But that is another story.

  Ok, we have our web site on so were are all those millions of people that are on the Internet?  Surprise!  It doesn't matter how good your site is if no one knows it is there.

  Well back to the drawing board.  After studying more books and searching the Internet we run across Cory Rodel, a man that has mastered   the art of web promotion. 
  We got a lot of tips and information on promoting our site at his web at Markingtips.com.   He also puts out a free newsletter with a lot of good articles.  And since then our web traffic has continued to grow.

  For the last several  years Shirley is  designing   custom  T-Shirts  where she can express her artistic talent in a broader way.

And from the old saying If you don't grow you go. So in 2000 we opened our newest site A1 Custom Jewelry featuring Hand Crafted Jewelry and in the mean time the Designs by Rainbow site has evolved into a full online shopping mall.

  Now you know where we came from and where we are going.
